President, Simsbury Historical Society

2013-present

 

I serve on the Board of Directors of a substantial local historical society and its 2 acre multi-structure museum.  I  became President of the Board-run institution after a year of serving as Executive Vice President.  As the President/Director, I manage substantial budgets, grant proposals, and programming arrangements for a variety of educational, social, and cultural events.  I also manage the social media and internet marketing strategy of the Society, and am working with a team of dedicated volunteers to position the museum as an innovative local institution, active in tourism, innovation, and makerspace culture.

 

 

Freelance Writing and Marketing

I have contributed to a large and diverse selection of magazines. My portfolio includes a regular humor column for national quarterly, a technology column for national monthly, and various features including history, profiles, and community business pieces. Marketing and copy writing clients have included Hewlett-Packard, Epson, Lucidiom, and Huntington Learning Center. I have also worked with specialty arts and hobby consumer conventions, designing and implementing educational programming and providing vendor support, as well as real-time logistical organization and support.

 

 

Senior Account Executive, Cohn & Wolfe

1994-1997

 

​Worked with a variety of corporate clients seeking to improve their media and public perception as well as those endeavoring to harness public perception to influence political and regulatory action.   Was the agency representative advising the United States Postal Service in the launch of their very first website, and also worked at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games to promote events and activities at the AT&T Global Olympic Village.  I also lead and facilitated innovative group creativity sessions with senior executives of a variety of client associations and corporations, and also formulated new business proposals and created campaign themes for existing clients.

​Completed Masters Degree with Distinction in American Politics and Political Theory.   Completed Coursework and Comprehensive Examinations with Distinction for the Doctorate in Constitutional Law and Political and Legal History, but did not complete the dissertation.
